Crashtastic Version 0.4.5 Now Available!

Published on August 14, 2012
Crashtastic Version 0.4.5 is now available!

If you have already purchased Crashtastic, you can download it here.

If you would like to buy Crashtastic, click here.

Crashtastic Version 0.4.5:

Game Improvements:
  • Performance, Performance, Performance – I completed the first pass at improving the simulation performance of the game. It should be much better for bigger designs!
New Features:
  • Implemented a new Crashtastic Launcher. You should always launch the game via the updater, as it is responsiblefor downloading the latest version, and logging you in to the game.
  • Added New Mission Objective: Checkpoints. On levels that use checkpoints, your robot needs to pass through each checkpoint (they will turn green) before crossing the finish line.
New Levels:
  • Simple Checkpoint – The first introduction to the new checkpoint system.
  • Checkpoint Slalom – A more difficult course where you need to weave back and forth.
  • Figure 8 – A difficult checkpoint challenge, where you need to race around a figure 8 course. Tip: Use controllable rockets!
  • Head-On Collision – A Box on legs? It’s going to take something a bit different to take this guy down.

Eight is Great?

Published on August 10, 2012

0.4.5 is almost done! Still have a bit of testing to do, but it should be done soon. Here’s a quick look at one of the four new levels! This level uses the new checkpoints system, which means you have to drive through each checkpoint before exiting the level.

ProTip: You really need to make use of the controllable rockets on this one! :)

Status Update on 0.4.5

Published on July 28, 2012

Hi! So, 0.4.5 is getting pretty close to being completed. I’ve finished the first round of performance improvements, and I think you will all be happy with the results.  I’m tuning the game around the expectation of people using less than 70 parts. That being said, I still don’t want to restrict people from using more, I just can’t guarantee performance for larger designs.

My buddy Matt has been slaving away on the updater, and it’s looking great! I’ll try and post a screenshot soon.

I started working on a few new levels for 0.4.5, while the updater is still being finished, and I decided to implement something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time…. Checkpoints. This will allow me to create more open levels that will require you to pass through each checkpoint and the finish line to successfully finish a given level. Here’s a quick screenshot of a simple example.

I should hopefully have 0.4.5 out in a few days!
